MM Mayors reiterates rejection of cinemas reopening

Metro Manila mayors reiterated that they will not allow the reopening of cinemas in malls following the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) initial announcement on the possibility of allowing the cinemas to reopen this month along with the gradual reopening of the economy.

According to Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro, the move is meant to prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and ensure the public’s safety against the virus.

The Department of Health (DOH) has lately admitted that the number of COVID-19 cases has rapidly increased following the discovery of the new variants in the country.
