The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) calls on local government units (LGUs) to strengthen the implementation of their respective health protocol ordinances amidst the increasing number of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
In a public briefing, DILG Spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya stated that they noticed that the public is becoming complacent and experiencing “COVID fatigue”.
The department ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to send reinforcement and ensure that everyone is complying with the health protocols against COVID-19.
“Mayroon na po tayong na-deploy na around 180 additional police officers sa Pasay para tumulong sa implementation ng minimum health protocols sa Pasay. At magde-deploy din po kami ng karagadagan sa Navotas and Malabon na tinatawag po nating hotspot areas (We have deployed around 180 additional police officers in Pasay to assist in the implementation of minimum health protocols there. And we will deploy more in Navotas and Malabon which we call as hotspot areas).”
