The P62 million widening and drainage improvement project along the west bound of Quezon Avenue from Elliptical Road to Agham Road in Quezon City has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar together with National Economic and Development Authority Ernesto Pernia led the inauguration of the newly-improved road on Friday, November 3, 2017.
From the existing four (4) lanes, the 571-lineal meter portion of Quezon Avenue west bound has been widened to six (6) lanes.

Aside from traffic decongestion, the road has a reinforced concrete box culvert (RCBC) component to mitigate flooding in the area.

The new drainage system will particularly increase the capacity of Tanque Creek by 112 percent as it now measures 5.3 meters by 3 meters. This is far bigger than the previous 3 meters by 2.5 meters box culvert along the road.

On the other hand, the two (2) additional lanes will cater to at least 164 public utility jeeps (PUJs), 427 private cars and 321 motorcycles per hour during rush hour.

The project is aligned with the existing two (2) outermost service lane approaching Agham Road and EDSA wherein traffic is being decongested. | DPWH-PR
