More than 5k Manila medical frontliners receive COVID-19 vaccine

A total of 5,406 medical frontliners in the City of Manila have been inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Manila Public Information Office (PIO), 3,691 from the said figures are healthcare workers from six district hospitals in the city, while 1,379 are from the Manila Health Department, and the remaining number are from private clinics and hospitals.

Meanwhile, the Manila LGU has started the vaccination for disaster risk reduction and management personnel, social workers, and jail officers.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso pointed out that these sectors are part of the Priority Group A1.

“I’m happy for them. Malapit na rin kami siguro sa kategorya na mababakunahan. Medyo sa may dulo pa kasi kami eh tapos senior citizen (We are getting closer to the category where we will be vaccinated. We are slated near the last part and we still have the senior citizens),” Mayor Domagoso explained.

Vaccination continued Monday, where 2,000 frontliners were expected to receive doses of the Aztrazeneca vaccine at the Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center while 150 frontliners will receive CoronaVac jabs of Sinovac at the Sta. Ana Hospital. —Patrick de Jesus
