Statement on the Arrest of the Suspect in the Attack on a 65-year-old Filipina

PASAY CITY, 02 April 2021 — The Department of Foreign Affairs welcomes the prompt arrest of the suspect in the violent attack on a 65-year-old Filipina in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, 29 March 2021.

We express our gratitude to US law enforcement agencies for their swift action, as well as to those who contribute to efforts to ensure that perpetrators of violence against Asian Americans, including Filipinos, are apprehended.

We urge Filipinos to remain vigilant and to immediately report any incident of hate crimes against members of the Filipino Community in the United States to the Philippine Embassy or Consulates General in the United States.
