NoCot marijuana plantation raided; caretaker arrested

COTABATO CITY – At least 120 policemen from the Isabela Police Provincial Office (IPPO) have been chosen to be part of the security contingent for the 31st ASEAN Summit on November 10-14.– Anti-narcotics agents seized during a raid over the weekend some 2,000 marijuana plants and arrested the plantation’s caretaker in Arakan, North Cotabato, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 reported Monday.

Gil Cesario Castro, PDEA-12 chief, identified the suspect as Jerome Tulosan, 25, caretaker of the marijuana plantation at Purok 4, Barangay Sumalili.

PDEA agents swooped down the area on Saturday and caught the suspect flat footed.

Castro said the seized marijuana plants have an estimated market value of Php400, 000; and 100 marijuana seedlings worth PHP5, 000.

The PDEA regional chief said a case for violation of Section 16 (Cultivation of Plants Classified as Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was slapped against the suspect.

“PDEA-12 will continuously conduct anti–illegal drug operation to prevent these ‘druggies’ on ruining the lives of the people especially our youth,” Castro said. (PNA)
