Palace: Next community quarantine status based on ‘science, hard data’

The Palace assured that the next community quarantine status will still be based on “science and hard data.”

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is expected to announce the new quarantine classification for the month of May this week. In a statement on Sunday (April 25), Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque guaranteed to the public that the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) “decides on the basis of science and hard data.”

Roque said the IATF-MEID will look into the “analytics of the healthcare system of NCR [National Capital Region] and the country” at its next meeting.

“Specifically, it will review the attack rate, and the hospital care utilization rate while checking the economic health of the nation,” he added.

The Presidential Spokesperson then emphasized that the government’s approach is whole-of-government. He reiterated that their “overarching goal” is to “promote the total health of all Filipinos.”
