PAF aircraft crashes in Bohol

Philippine Air Force (PAF) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Maynard Mariano confirmed that a PAF aircraft crashed in the vicinity of Jetafe, Bohol at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday (April 27).

In a statement, the PAF said that an MD520MG #410 from the 15th Strike Wing was conducting an “engineering flight” before the incident.

It said three members of the aircrew survived the crash, while one member “offered his life in the line of duty.” The three survivors were immediately brought to the nearest hospital for proper medical attention.

“As of this writing, [the] families of the involved personnel are being informed of the incident. We request that while this is being done, all concerned will be sensitive to the families involved.  The PAF will provide all necessary assistance and financial aid for the bereaved family,” it added.

Meanwhile, the PAF assured the public that all of its air assets are “undergoing strict, regular, and redundant maintenance inspections before and after flight missions.” It has also grounded the MG520 fleet. -jlo
