The People’s Television Network (PTV) and the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the establishment of a 1 kilowatt (kW) digital and 1kW analog transmitter in Batac, Ilocos Norte.

PTV will set up the transmitter in exchange for a 500 square meter MMSU property.

In the signing ceremony on Wednesday (May 12), PTV General Manager Kat de Castro said that through the partnership with MMSU, credible news as well as the efforts of the national government will reach more Filipinos.

“We do everything we can para mabalita ang totoong balita at malaman ng mga tao ang efforts ng gobyerno… And this partnership with MMSU, I’m glad we are able to showcase more of not only the national government’s efforts, but also the Ilocos Norte government’s efforts,” de Castro said.

She added that she has ordered the hastened establishment of the transmitter in order for the MMSU faculty and students to produce their own programs by 2022 that will be shown in Ilocos Norte.

The MMSU will be given a 30-minute weekly window “for the purpose of information dissemination.”

De Castro also said it was “always her vision” to establish PTV stations in each region to disseminate information to more people.

“Government efforts in the national and local levels will always be prioritized. It is our dream to build stations in each province of the Philippines. We aim to combat fake news,” she said.  -jlo
