PCG rescues capsized boat carrying COVID-19 vaccines

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a capsized service boat of the Department of Agriculture (DA) that was carrying two boxes of unidentified COVID-19 vaccines bound for Polillo, Quezon on May 13. 

On board the said DA service boat, along with the vaccines, were two Department of Health (DOH) personnel, and two police officers of the Municipal Police Station (MPS) Polillo, as well as its boat captain and motorman.

“According to the passengers, the DA service boat accidentally hit the concrete post along the vicinity waters off Barangay Ungos, causing it to capsize,” said PCG in an incident report.

The incident happened approximately 100 meters away from the barangay’s shoreline around 7:55 a.m and all individuals were rescued around 8:30 a.m.

The two DOH personnel then made proper coordination with their respective unit to check the condition of the COVID-19 vaccines and conducted appropriate measures. -rir
