Marikina rolls out Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

The City of Marikina started today (May 20) its rollout of COVID-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech.

Around 1,100 individuals who registered for inoculation were included in the vaccination list, including those with comorbidities.

Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro said their residents are free to choose their vaccine brand, but this will still depend on supply. The city is currently using Sinovac-Biotech’s CoronaVac and the Pfizer vaccine.

The mayor believes that the public has the right to know which vaccine will be administered to them, but said that this does not need to be announced.

Marikina received a total of 11,400 Pfizer vaccine doses to cover 5,700 individuals.

Meanwhile, Quezon City will conduct another round of drive-thru vaccination this Saturday (May 22) at SM Fairview. Site registration, screening, actual vaccination, and post-vaccination evaluation will be observed.

The local government advised the public to coordinate with their barangay offices to schedule an appointment or book online through the eZConsult application.  – Report from Cleizl Pardilla/AG-jlo
