LGUs provide free shuttle services to vaccination sites

MANILA – To urge more participation in the national COVID-19 vaccination program, local government units in Metro Manila offer free shuttle services going to jabs centers.

Makati City hired tricycle drivers for its drive-through Vaccination On-The-Go program.

Mayor Abby Binay said in a statement that the tricycles can transport the sick and elderly to the Ayala Circuit, the site of the former Sta. Ana Racetrack and near the City Hall.

“The recipients will undergo the usual process such as screening, pre-vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring while waiting inside the tricycle,” Binay said in a social media post on Saturday.

In Navotas, Mayor Toby Tiangco announced the city government also hired tricycle drivers to provide free transportation for senior citizens and persons with disabilities going to vaccination sites.

As the Pasig City government has opened more vaccination hubs, Mayor Vico Sotto said their community bus for senior citizens availing of jabs is available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mandaluyong City Menchie Abalos said they conduct house-to-house vaccine operations for bedridden senior citizens and provide free shuttle services going to jabs sites.

Manila similarly makes house visits to inoculate bedridden residents.

In Taguig, the city government has a mobile vaccination bus, also for bedridden residents and the elderly.

Mayor Lino Cayetano said the initiative is part of the city’s response “to make vaccination more accessible”.

Pasay City has similar free shuttle services for vaccinees. (PNA)-rir
