Civil Service Examination set for July 18

By NG Seruela

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) announced that the pen-and-paper test for the Civil Service Examination (CSE) is set for July 18.

In the Laging Handa public briefing on Thursday (May 27), CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said the pen-and-paper test is open to the public and government workers, especially those under job order (JO) and contract of service (COS).

The five regions to conduct a pen-and-paper test that is open to all are Region I, Region VI, VII, XII, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“Halos filled up na rin po iyong desired number. Bakit lima lang ho? Kasi based po ito doon sa mga consultations natin with the regional directors, hindi gaanong tumataas ang COVID; and then kinakausap din natin iyong ating mga local chief executives, local authorities, regional IATF, at ito ho iyong pinayagan na po sila on those areas,” she said.

Lizada explained that the pen-and-paper test for the National Capital Region (NCR) will be agency-based due to the restrictions implemented in the region.

“Ang CSC na po ang pupunta sa ahensiya ng gobyerno at kami po ang magbibigay ng exams po doon subject to the protocols ng Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases na binigay sa amin – may approval na po kami – at least, para tulungan po natin iyong mga JOs at COS na matagal na pong naging JO at COS.”

The agency also enumerated the following government agencies that showed interest in the Civil Service Examinations:

House of Representatives

Department of Information and Communication Technology

Dept. of Trade and Industry-Foreign Trade Service Corps

Landbank of the Philippines

Boy Scouts of the Philippines

Land Transportation Office

Lizada said due to the limited venue capacity, only 50% of the examinees are allowed to enter the venue.

“The pen-and-paper test noong sa nationwide po, because of the limitations na binibigay sa atin like 50% ang kakayahan ng isang venue, so that is why we have to adjust. It’s not that gusto po naming lagyan ng quota, but we need to comply… we will be relying as well on the venue na ibibigay ng ahensiya ng gobyerno. So mas malaki, mas mabuti, open air, mas mabuti po,” she explained.

She also assured that they implement health and safety protocols such as the 50% venue capacity, downloading by examinees of the StaySafe.PH app, filling in the health declaration form, wearing of face mask and face shields, and the presence of a health monitoring team in the area. – jlo
