Dante enters PAR on Sunday

The outer rainbands of Tropical Depression Dante may bring light to moderate rains over Caraga and Davao Region on Sunday (May 30).

Dante entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) east of Mindanao at 1:00 a.m. with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness up to 55 km/h, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Dante is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

PAGASA has been monitoring the low pressure area, which developed into a tropical depression, since Thursday.

The present track forecast shows that the hoisting of a tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) over any land area in the country remains less likely, PAGASA wrote in a bulletin issued on Sunday at 5:00 a.m.

However, given the uncertainty in its track forecast, any further westward shift in the track forecast may lead to the hoisting of a TCWS over the eastern portion of the country, it added.

Dante is the fourth typhoon to enter the Philippines this year. – (DOST-PAGASA) / CF-jlo
