50-K Sputnik V doses arrive in PH

The third batch of Sputnik V vaccines from Russia arrived in the Philippines on Sunday evening (May 30).

Qatar Airway flight number QR928 carrying 50,000 Russian vaccines aboard landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 at 10:30 p.m. Present at the plane’s arrival were vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov.

Amb. Pavlov assured the delivery of additional Sputnik V doses to the country, and said that the bilateral relations of the Philippines and Russia will be further strengthened.

The new batch of vaccines were immediately transported to the Pharmaserv warehouse in Marikina City.

Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said on Saturday that the vaccines will be sent to areas with high cases of COVID-19.

“Siguro mga  dalawa hanggang tatlong lugar muna ang mabibigyan ng mga bakunang ito,” she said.

The first two batches comprising 30,000 doses of Sputnik V arrived in the Philippines on May 1 and May 12.
