DILG: 100% accomplishment rate on ‘ayuda’ distribution in NCR Plus

By NG Seruela

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Monday evening (May 31) the 100% accomplishment rate of the local government units’ (LGUs) financial assistance or “ayuda” distribution to National Capital Region (NCR) Plus residents.

In President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Talk to the People address, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año announced that over ₱22 billion worth of financial aid has been distributed to almost 23 million beneficiaries located in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite.

Año showed the following breakdown of the financial aid distribution in NCR Plus:

  • NCR – ₱11.16 billion distributed to its residents with ₱4,857,000 in unused funds from Navotas
  • Bulacan – ₱2.96 billion
  • Cavite – ₱3.42 billion distributed to its residents with ₱20,539,300 in unused funds from Bacoor, Imus, Alfonso, General Emilio Aguinaldo, and Magallanes
  • Laguna – ₱2.71 billion distributed to its residents with ₱65,546 in unused funds from Los Baños
  • Rizal – ₱2.61 billion distributed to its residents with ₱841,000 in unused funds from Baras

The DILG chief also reported that eight LGUs in NCR Plus are scheduled to return a total of ₱26,302,856 in unused funds.

The aid was disbursed by the national government to the NCR Plus LGUs to aid qualified beneficiaries during the extreme community quarantine imposed on the area following a surge of COVID-19 cases there starting in late March.
