PDEA gives cash reward worth ₱3.5-M to informants

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave a cash reward on Monday (June 7) to 16 informants for their contribution in the agency’s campaign against drugs.

Under their program “Operation Private Eye,” the PDEA encourages the public to report any illegal drug activities in their area.

PDEA Director-General Wilkins Villanueva personally gave the cash reward amounting to almost ₱3.5 million while Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative and House Committee on Dangerous Drugs Chairperson Ace Barbers was an honorary guest in the ceremony.

The informants received various amounts of cash rewards. The amount depends on the success of the anti-illegal drug operations with their given information where the largest amount received by an informant is ₱722,000.

PDEA DG Villanueva recognized the courage of the informants despite the dangers of giving sensitive information to the PDEA.

Meanwhile, the agency also celebrates its 19th anniversary with the theme ”Laban Kontra Droga, Tuloy-Tuloy Kahit May Pandemya.”
