PH about to reach 6-M COVID-19 jabs this week

By Christine Fabro

The Philippines is about to breach the 6 million mark in its vaccination program against COVID-19 this week, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).

In the latest statistics from the DOH, a total of 5,965,651 doses have already been administered as of June 6.

Of this, 4,421,319 are first doses and 1,544,332 are second doses.

According to the DOH, this equates to over 1 million people that have been given the full protection of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The total doses administered in the 14th week of the national vaccination program stands at 788,350 doses.

Today (June 7), the vaccination rollout for A4 category began with positive feedback from the government and private sector.

The A4 priority group consists of the economical frontliners, government workers, informal sector workers, and household workers.

Due to the limited vaccine supply for the said category, the priority will be given to individuals aged 40 to 59 years old, followed by 18 to 39 years old.

Even so, those who belong to the A1, A2, and A3 categories will still be inoculated by the COVID-19 vaccine through an express lane in the vaccination sites.

According to the authorities, administering vaccines for senior citizens and persons with comorbidities will remain on top of its priorities. – rir
