More than 1,000 individuals have violated the health protocols that are being implemented in Davao City after it was placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) on June 5.
The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) were deployed to 38 Quarantine Control Points (QCPs) around the city where the authorities have apprehended at least 1,242 health protocol violators from June 5 to June 6.
About 433 of which were caught for not wearing face shields, while 364 were not wearing face masks.
Moreover, 225 were caught for violating the curfew hours, 183 were seen at mass gatherings, 34 were pillion riding without barrier, and three were apprehended for non-essential loitering.
Those apprehended violators were given a citation ticket that corresponds to fines, or worse, may be subjected to criminal charges.
The authorities ensure that only essential movements will be allowed in the city and the public is expected to abide by the minimum health standards set by the government.
As of June 7, Davao City recorded an additional 1,124 new COVID-19 cases which brings the total active cases to 2,485.
Moreso, 15,144 have fully recovered from COVID-19, while 780 succumbed to the disease.
The independent research group OCTA projected on June 7 that Davao City may top the list of areas with the highest number of new cases by the end of this week. – Report from Julius Pacot (Radyo Pilipinas) / CF- rir
