LGUs eye A5 vaccination in Region 7

Several local government units (LGUs) may begin inoculating their indigent population following the distribution of 210,000 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine doses in Region 7.

“I believe that our LGU’s who have received or are receiving the Pfizer from COVAX facility will have to proceed with giving [it to] their indigent populations,” Department of Health (DOH) 7 Spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said.

Cebu City will not yet push through with priority group A5’s vaccination due to insufficient vaccine supply.

“We are still waiting for further instructions from DOH 7 kung kailan masisimulan ang A5. Ang other sites are closed because we are still waiting for the allocations,” Dr. Mary Irish Coloma of the City Health Office said.

The COVAX guidelines for vaccine prioritization covers priority groups A1 (medical workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidities), and A5 (indigent population).

Below is the allocation of COVAX-donated vaccines in the region:

  • Mandaue City – 21,060
  • Lapu-Lapu City – 23,400
  • Cebu City – 21,060
  • Minglanilla – 11,700
  • Consolacion – 4,680
  • Talisay City – 7,020
  • Naga City – 18,720
  • Bohol – 11,700
