PH internet speed climbs in global ranking

The Philippines moved up in the global ranking in mobile and fixed broadband internet speed.

Based on the May 2021 Ookla Speedtest Global Index Report for the mobile internet speed, the Philippines has climbed seven spots to achieve the 77th ranking over 137 countries.

According to the report, the average mobile download speed in the country is 31.98 Megabits per second (Mbps) while its upload speed is at 8.74 Mbps. The average mobile download speed in the country in April was 29.12 Mbps and has an upload speed of 7.65 Mbps.

Meanwhile, in the fixed broadband speed ranking, the Philippines has jumped over 15 spots, claiming the 65th rank globally.

The average download speed for fixed broadband internet is 58.73 Mbps while its upload speed is at 57.40 Mbps. In April, the average download speed of the fixed broadband internet was 49.31 Mbps while its upload was at 47.83 Mbps.
