IDPs in Marawi to get 170 more permanent shelters

By Pearl Gumapos

Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson Eduardo del Rosario on Wednesday (June 24) announced that 170 more permanent shelters will be given to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Marawi City.

Del Rosario, who also heads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), said the awarding of permanent shelters should be done this month, five months after 109 units were given to IDPs inside Hadiya Village.

He added that some infrastructures like telecommunication facilities, water systems, and electrification in the most affected areas are expected to be awarded by October this year.

“I reiterate that the rehabilitation remains on track and most of the ongoing infrastructure and public facilities will be completed by December of the year,” del Rosario said in a media group.

Del Rosario also facilitated inspections of several other ongoing projects across the Islamic city, including the soon-to-be-finished Marawi Museum, the School of Living Tradition, the Marawi Traffic Control Center, and the Dansalan Bato Mosque. – jlo
