Taguig City to launch 24/7 vax hub for economic frontliners

By Christine Fabro

The local government of Taguig City steps up its vaccine rollout efforts with a vaccination bus and a 24-hour vaccination hub for its economic frontliners.

In a statement, the Taguig City local government unit (LGU) said on Sunday (June 27): “The Mega Vaccination Hub – Bonifacio High Street will be launching its midnight operations this week until the city reaches its goal of opening it up 24/7.”

The hub, located at the 2F-B7, Lane P, Bonifacio High Street East, will extend its operating hours up to 12 midnight beginning Monday (June 28), and will be open only to A4 category individuals (economic frontliners) who cannot take time away from their jobs during the day to get jabbed.

“Vaccination should be fast, safe, and accessible. Those three things are important to us when we strategize our rollout plan,” Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano said.

He added that once its senior citizens have signed up for vaccination by November, they will be able to finish inoculating the target population and open the vaccination program to the rest of the National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, a bus was used as a three-day pop-up vaccination center in Brgy. Ibayo-Tipas to vaccinate the essential workers in the area. At least 500 employees from 10 local hopia companies have been inoculated since the vaccination bus arrived on June 26.

There are 12 vaccination sites in Taguig: SM Aura, Lakeshore Area, Vista Mall parking building, Bonifacio High Street, Venice Grand Canal Mall, Lakeshore Trade Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Western Bicutan National High School, Medical Center Taguig, RP Cruz Elementary School, EM’s Signal Village Elementary School, and Sea Breeze Resort.

As of June 26, the Taguig LGU has so far vaccinated a total of 238,853 individuals from the A1 to A4 priority groups. The city’s target is to inoculate 680,000 eligible individuals by the end of the year. – jlo
