DepEd personnel get COVID-19 jab in Davao City

The City of Davao on Tuesday (June 29) began the ceremonial COVID-19 vaccination for Department of Education (DepEd) teaching and non-teaching personnel.

The vaccination was conducted at the Bernardo D. Carpio National High School. Other DepEd personnel in the city were also inoculated at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School and at the Crossing Bayabas National High School.

“Natutuwa ako kasi sa ibang lugar, pumipila pa ang mga teachers kasama ang iba pang sektor. This one, we see teachers receiving their vaccine kasama ang iba pang teachers,” DepEd 11 Reg. Dir. Allan Farnazo said.

DepEd 11 said the DepEd personnel vaccination will only take place today due to limited vaccine supply.  Once more vaccines arrive, the DepEd will open the three vaccination sites, including Mintal Comprehensive High School this coming weekend.

Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH) 11 Director Dr. Annabelle Yumang said in the Laging Handa Public Briefing that they have recorded 14 cases of Alpha and Beta variants in Davao Region.

The said cases have already recovered and had no local and international travel history. The region has already sent more than 1,000 specimens to the Philippine Genome Center (PGC). – Report from Jay Lagang/PTV Davao/AG-rir
