San Juan jab rollout continues, more vax personnel eyed

The city government of San Juan began today (June 30) the rollout of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine after receiving 1,800 doses from the first batch of the brand on Tuesday night.

The vaccines are set to be used for Priority Groups A1 to A5, but several overseas Filipino workers were prioritized due to their employment requirements.

Over 70,000 individuals have been vaccinated in the city, or 82% of their target population. The city expressed optimism to reach herd immunity by August.

Mayor Francis Zamora assured they have enough vaccinators to prevent lapses in the vaccination process. There are currently 400 individuals in the city’s vaccination team, including the augmentation from the police and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

At least 200 individuals will be added to the current number in line with the opening of their third vaccination site.

“It’s really about proper planning and scheduling. Siyempre ang ating mga healthcare workers tao din ‘yan, napapagod,” Zamora said.

The health department and local government units earlier said they will investigate the reported lapses of vaccinators, including the recent incidents in Makati and Mandaluyong.

The National Vaccine Operation Cluster has been conducting reorientation activities regarding vaccine administration protocols for regional and local inoculation teams. – Report from Patrick de Jesus/AG-rir
