A4 vax rollout begins outside Metro Manila

The vaccination of economic frontliners or those included under Priority Group A4 has finally started in several areas outside the National Capital Region (NCR).

Among the areas which began their rollout today is Laguna, which is considered as one of the country’s largest industrial hubs.

“Importante na mabigyan ng proteksyon ang ating mga manggagawa dito sa ating mga export-oriented industries na nakabase rito sa Laguna,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon reiterated the importance of inoculating essential workers due to their economic contribution which was gravely affected by the pandemic.

Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac was used to vaccinate employees, security personnel, and other workers at the Laguna Technopark.

Around 10,000 individuals from the tourism sector and allied services were vaccinated in Davao City. Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 were also inoculated after having been granted 800 doses.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) launched today its Bakuna Bus equipped with a cold chain system to reach recipients under Priority Group A5 or indigent populations.

Three of the buses are in Metro Manila and the other two were deployed in Cebu. The said buses were previously used to vaccinate over a million children against polio, measles, and rubella. – Report from Louisa Erispe/AG-rir
