‘Swab-upon-arrival’ policy sa Cebu, banta sa pagpasok ng Delta variant sa bansa – IATF

Iginiit ng National Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na dapat masunod ang pangkalahatang guidelines ng health at safety protocols sa lahat ng lugar sa bansa.

Sa isinagawang pagpupulong ng mga kinatawan ng IATF at Cebu government officials noong Martes (Hunyo 29), giit ng kinatawan na lubhang mapanganib ang ‘swab-upon-arrival’ na polisiya ng Cebu dahil sa banta ng COVID-19 Delta variant.

Ayon sa IATF, kung magluluwag ang travel restrictions sa Cebu, maaaring makapasok ang maraming kaso ng Delta variant mula sa mga returning overseas Filipinos.

“We have to have a common purpose and a common direction on how we can really prevent the virus from coming in,” saad ni National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr.

“Nakita natin na very dangerous ‘yung variant. I’m very worried, that’s why we are already preparing the local government units to come up with a higher capacity in pandemic response,” dagdag nito.

Ayon naman kay Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, mahalagang paigtingin ang pagpapatupad ng health at safety protocols sa bansa.

“It only takes one Delta variant to come into our country and the rules of the game will change,” saad ni Nograles.

Anila, hindi agad makikita sa RT-PCR ang COVID-19 kung isasailalim agad sa testing ang mga biyahero, lalo na ang Delta variant na may incubation period na 14 na araw.

Inihalintulad naman ni Department of Health (DOH) Technical Adviser Group Dr. Edsel Salvana ang nangyayari sa ibang bansa katulad ng Taiwan na nagkaroon ng pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 matapos ilunsad ang testing upon arrival.

Bukas naman ang IATF sa maaaring pag-apela ni Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia sa kanilang swab-upon-arrival na polisiya, ngunit sa kasalukuyan, kailangang ipatupad ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Cebu ang guidelines na ipinapatupad ng IATF para sa mga Pilipinong umuuwi sa bansa. – Ulat ni John Aroa / CF-rir
