PH population reaches 109.03-M in 2020

The 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) revealed that the Philippine population is higher by 8.05 million from the population of 100.98 million in 2015.

Based on the 2020 CPH undertaken by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the population of the Philippines as of May 1, 2020 is 109,035,343, representing the total number of persons living in the 17 administrative regions of the country, including Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

The Census also showed a slower growth rate in 2020 with 1.63% compared to the 1.72% growth rate in 2015.

Moreover, the region with the biggest population as of 2020 is CALABARZON with 16,195,042 residents, followed by the National Capital Region with 13,484,462 residents, and Central Luzon with 12,422,172 individuals.

Meanwhile, the region with the least population as of 2020 is the Cordillera Administrative Region with 1,797,660 individuals.

“There is progress in our reproductive health program. Total fertility rate is falling, as more women are educated and [can] better manage their families,” Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua said during the 2020 CPH news conference on Tuesday (July 13).
