Israeli health team in PH for Delta response support

The country’s COVID-19 task force and the second batch of Israeli health experts met on Tuesday (July 27) to discuss improvements in the country’s response against the highly transmissible Delta variant.

The four-member Israeli team comprises infectious diseases specialist Dr. Guy Chosen, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center Emergency Department head nurse Shira Peleg, Galilee Medical Center trauma coordinator Eyad Jeries, and disaster management coordinator Magen David Adom.

Among the country’s experts who joined them were Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega, who presented the current Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment, and Reintegration (PDITR) strategies for COVID-19.

The Israeli delegation will stay in the country for a week and are set to visit Hospital Command Centers on July 29.

A team of medical experts from the Israel Ministry of Health initially visited the country on June 20 to share their expertise on vaccine rollout.

As of July 28, the Philippines has detected 119 Delta variant cases, 12 of which remain active. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio/AG- jlo
