ABS-CBN exec Arlene Sinsuat de Castro passes away

Arlene Sinsuat-de Castro, former Vice President for Current Affairs at ABS-CBN, passed away at the age of 66 on Saturday (July 31) morning.

Arlene’s daughter, People’s Television Network General Manager Katherine Chloe de Castro, confirmed her passing in a Facebook post.

“My Mom passed away this morning. Thank you for your prayers,” she said.

“I feel so down. My head hurts and my tears never seem to stop,” the post reads.

Sinsuat-de Castro was the woman behind the top-rating ABS-CBN programs hosted by icons of Philippine broadcast media.

She handled many well-known shows, among them Noli de Castro’s Magandang Gabi Bayan (MGB), Magandang Umaga Po with Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez, and PEP Talk with Loren Legarda, and others.

For several years, she headed the network’s Special Reports Group that produced the TV Patrol newscast.

She was married to former Vice President Noli de Castro, a veteran newscaster and radio show host, and they had three children: Katherine Chloe, Manueli, and Shamier.

In her earlier years in the media industry, she became a production coordinator for Special Events, Current Affairs and Sports in MBS-4 (Maharlika Broadcasting System).

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) also sent their condolences to the de Castro family at the end of the Laging Handa briefing on Saturday. – PTV News
