Reinforcing the administration’s thrust towards integrating digital infrastructure into the nation’s bottomline and the daily lives of Filipinos, the government continues to engage with the private sector in its quest towards further development.
This, as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the 11th meeting of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Digital Infrastructure Sector Group at Malacañang on Tuesday.
During the high-level talks with private sector leaders, the President focused on accelerating efforts to bring reliable internet access to Filipinos in far-flung communities, who continue to experience connectivity struggles.
He expressed hope that these initiatives will help to address the decades-long digital divide that continues to hamper progress in regions situated away from centers of trade and commerce.
A review into the Bayanihan SIM Project was also ordered by the President, as well as insights gathered on how more Filipinos can benefit from enhanced online security, especially in online transactions, banking, and other essential activities.
President Marcos Jr. likewise lent an ear to the private sector for their inputs on how to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) incorporate modern technology into their livelihoods, which would help them reach more consumers, create jobs, generate additional income, and provide opportunities for further expansion and growth.
Protection against cyber threats and misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) and other related technologies were also tackled in the discussions.
The Chief Executive concluded the meeting with optimism that these efforts would translate into increased confidence among Filipinos in conducting online transactions, using digital banking platforms, and using technology to help make their lives easier.
