PITX ‘tsuperheroes’ get jabbed against COVID-19; terminal fees waived

About 1,000 drivers and transport workers in the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) were inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines today (July 31) through the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) vaccination drive for the transport sector.

In a Facebook post, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade called the transport workers as “tsuperheroes”.

Some three buses from Mega Manila Consortium Corporation are being used as a vaccination site in PITX, which aims to vaccinate 5,000 transport workers for six consecutive Saturdays, starting today.

The first 1,000 doses came from the local government of Parañaque, while the remaining 4,000 doses that will be used for the coming weeks will be coming from the national vaccine allocation through the Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MM-CHD).

The said the vaccination drive is in cooperation with the local government of Parañaque, the MM-CHD, and PITX.

“Ang programang ito ay may layuning ilapit ang vaccination centers sa ating mga tsuper at iba pang transport workers upang masigurong sila ay ligtas at protektado laban sa COVID-19,” Tugade said.

Waiving of terminal fees

Starting on Monday (August 2), PITX will be waiving terminal fees for buses that will be using the terminal.

Assistant Secretary for Communications and Commuter Affairs confirmed in a Facebook post on Saturday that Megawide Chairman and CEO Edgar Saavedra has allowed the waiving of fees for both provincial and city operations. – Report from PTV News / CF – rir
