Makati LGU sees over- and undersupply of jabs for Makatizens

Makati City’s vaccination rate among the elderly is at 90% or about 39,958 fully vaccinated senior citizens, Makati Mayor Abigail Binay confirmed on Thursday (August 12).

In a television interview, Mayor Binay owed this achievement to the local government’s house-to-house effort to help them register for the COVID-19 jab.

“After they register, pwede na sila pumunta sa vaccination. It’s as if nag-walk-in sila,” she said.

Binay also said that there is an “oversupply” of COVID-19 vaccines allotted for health workers (A1), senior citizens (A2), persons with comorbidities (A3), and indigent groups (A5), while there is an “undersupply” of vaccines for the economic workers (A4).

“It is an over and undersupply. We have so much for the categories of A1, A2, A3 and A5 but we have a shortage under A4,” she said.

COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms under home quarantine in Makati City are given home care packages, which contain a home care handbook, alcohol, oral antiseptic, sore throat spray, fever pad, thermometer, washable and disposable face masks, pulse oximeter, vitamins, and medicine for fever.

“We want to make sure that our mild COVID-19 cases have the right equipment to help them monitor themselves at home… We have seen to it that the contents of our home care package are useful and responsive to their needs,” Binay said. (PNA) / CF – rir
