DOH identifies areas in PH with COVID-19 high alert status

At least 54 areas in the country are on alert level 4 for COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Saturday (August 14).

In a Laging Handa public briefing on Saturday, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said alert level 4 pertains to more than 70% utilization rate in hospitals.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), Las Piñas, Malabon, Makati, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, San Juan, Pateros, Quezon City, Taguig, and Valenzuela are on high alert.

“We are finding all of these areas na 54 across the different [areas] in Cordillera Administrative Region, Regions I to III, Region IV-A, Region V, VI,VII, VIII, Region X, Region XII and Caraga,” Vergeire said.

“Marami [nang] na-escalate natin [na] from alert level 1 lang dati ay naging alert level 3 or alert level 4,” she added.

Vergeire said the DOH is in close coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in guiding each local government unit (LGU) in imposing curbs in their areas.

“So, ang ginagawa po namin ngayon ay sumasama kami sa DILG para kausapin isa-isa ang mga local government, iyong mga officials po natin para turuan sila, ma-guide sila ano po ba ang pwede pa nating gawin sa panahon na ito,” Vergeire said. – Report from Karen Villanda / CF – rir
