Ospital ng Biñan uses parking lot as reception while patients wait for admission

Following a full stretch in capacity, Ospital ng Biñan in Laguna pitched makeshift hospital rooms in its parking lot to accommodate patients waiting for vacant hospital beds inside.

Ospital ng Biñan Medical Director Dr. Melbril Alonte said in a radio interview on Monday (Aug. 16) that only 50 beds were initially allotted for COVID-19 patients, however, almost 200 COVID positive individuals were admitted.

The hospital currently seeks for additional healthcare workers, including nurses and doctors, as some hospital staff were infected with COVID-19.

Alonte added that several health workers have also gotten sick as they work up to 24 hours due to lack of personnel.

“Sa ngayon po, patuloy naman pong ginagawan ng paraan ng local government. When it comes sa DOH (Department of Health) po, wala pa naman po silang naibibigay. Ngunit, we’re hoping, we’re thriving, patuloy po kaming lumalaban,” Alonte said. – Report from Louisa Erispe / CF -rir
