More than P40 million worth of marijuana plants was eradicated in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Aug. 26, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced today (Aug. 27).
According to information from the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group, the marijuana eradication was conducted in Bgy. Loccong, where authorities destroyed and burned 203,500 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants with a value of P40.7 million.
The plants were uprooted from five different sites in the mountainous area of Tinglayan.
PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar lauded the personnel for another successful marijuana eradication.
“Ipagpatuloy lamang natin ang mga ganitong operasyon para sa patuloy nating pagsupil sa ilegal na droga,” he said.
Eleazar said a follow-up investigation should be conducted to identify and arrest the cultivators of the plantation sites. (PNP-PIO) – jlo
