PRRD: Imee Marcos wants to be Sara’s VP

By NG Seruela

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte disclosed that Senator Imee Marcos went to Davao City “hoping” to form a tandem with Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and run in the 2022 elections as her vice presidential candidate.

In his public address on Monday (Aug. 30), President Duterte revealed that Marcos met with his daughter to convince her to run as president in the upcoming elections and choose her as the vice president.

“Well, ngayon, si Imee. Medyo kasi ‘yang si Imee, ganito ang laro niyan eh, pinupuntahan niya si Mayor Duterte sa Davao hoping na kung magtakbo ‘yun, siya ang maging bise.”

However, the Davao City mayor declined to run for the position.

“Eh hindi naman tatakbo, sabi niya. Sabi ni Mayor Sara Duterte eh hindi siya magtakbo.”

Mayor Sara Duterte, in a text message to PTV News, rejected the idea and said that the “talks or meetings” with the senator “never happened.”

In relation to this, Marcos initially supported the possible tandem of Sara Duterte and her brother, Bongbong Marcos in the 2022 elections.

Meanwhile, President Duterte accepted the endorsement of his party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan’s (PDP-Laban) for the vice presidential race on Aug. 24.

“Eh ‘di sabi ko magtakbo ako ng vice president. Bakit? Walang oposisyon eh. Hindi man manalo ‘yang oposisyon na ‘yan,” he said in his latest address. – rir
