703-K Pfizer doses arrive in PH

Around 703,000 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine doses were delivered on Wednesday night (Sept. 1) to the Philippines, increasing the country’s supply which has already reached 51.8 million doses.

Flight LD456 landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 before 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The government said 600,210 doses will be allocated to the National Capital Region (NCR) and its neighboring provinces.

Around 51,480 doses of the vaccines have already been delivered to Cebu earlier, while another 51,480 doses are scheduled to be delivered to Davao on Thursday (Sept. 2).

Meanwhile, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 said it has started the implementation of a “recalibrated deployment strategy” for more equitable vaccine distribution.

Around 12 million vaccine doses are expected to be shipped to the country this month from the government’s procurement and donations.
