Local transmission of Delta variant dominant in Bohol – official

The province of Bohol logs an 80% utilization rate on its healthcare facilities due to a spike of locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in the province.

Bohol Governor Arthur Yap on Saturday (Sept. 4) said in a Laging Handa public briefing that the entry of Delta variant caused the surge of their active COVID-19 cases.

“More of local transmission. Based on the DOH [Department of Health] dito sa Bohol, sa studies namin, it’s local transmission na ng Delta variant. So, nandito na sa loob. Tapos iyong mga tao rin, umaabot tayo sa punto nagkakaroon ng fatigue iyong mga tao sa pagsunod,” Yap said.

As of Sept. 4, there are 13,825 reported COVID-19 cases in Bohol, including 1,974 active cases.

The provincial chief said they only allow home isolation when all members of the household have already contracted the disease.

“Hindi namin pinapayagan iyong home isolation ngayon. Talagang kapag uuwi ka dito, accredited private or public site iyan, kailangan accredited iyan sa LGU [local government unit] para nababantayan,” Yap said.

“The only reason na pinapabayaan namin na sometimes na mag-home quarantine is kung iyong entire family na, iyong buong pamilya infected na sila, so we allow granular lockdowns for that. Puwede silang sa bahay nila or kung mag-isa lang sila sa bahay,” he added. – Report from PTV News / CF -rir
