Tuguegarao remains under ECQ until Sept. 12

By Alec Go

The enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Tuguegarao City has been extended anew for seven days until Sept. 12 with curfew hours set from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

Based on Executive Order No. 157, the city’s Covid Task Force may still implement granular lockdowns through a “zonal containment strategy” in critical areas.

The new directive also allowed bicycle and laundry shops to operate at full capacity, while public transportation will operate in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOTr) guidelines.

Tricycles have been allowed to accommodate two passengers per trip subject to health protocols, with each passenger seated separately or inside the tricycle and at the back of the driver.

The city’s information office said the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) only approved a seven-day extension from the 14-day extension recommendation of Gov. Manuel Mamba.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano earlier recommended deescalating the quarantine classification of the city to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

As of Sept. 5, Tuguegarao City has 1,113 active cases after 101 new cases were reported, 10,385 recoveries, and 308 deaths.

Meanwhile, the local government urged its eligible A1 to A4 beneficiaries to get vaccinated but issued a reminder that walk-ins are not yet allowed in vaccination sites. – bny
