Ilocos Norte under MECQ until end of month

The modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Ilocos Norte has been extended until Sept. 30, Malacañang announced Tuesday (Sept. 7).

The announcement followed the approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to the quarantine escalation appeal of the provincial government under Resolution No. 136-G.

On Sept. 7, the national government said Ilocos Norte’s quarantine classification will be deescalated to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.

The province has recorded 27 additional COVID-19 cases on Sept. 6, bringing its total active case count to 2,498. Ilocos Norte has 16,039 total cases, 13,311 recoveries, and 230 deaths.

Meanwhile, 182,546 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered and 75,005 individuals have completed their doses in the province as of Aug. 30. – AG-rir
