Central Visayas breach 2-M mark of administered COVID-19 jabs

The Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7) has administered over two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

In a media briefing on Tuesday (Sept. 7), DOH-7 Chief Pathologist Dr. Mary Jean Loreche said there are a total of 2,095,474 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the region as of Monday (Sept. 6).

The majority of vaccine recipients were residents of Cebu, despite the lack of vaccinators in the province.

According to Loreche, Cebu Province has administered about 923,158 for the first dose, and 618,498 for the second dose. 

Of this, about 29.37% of residents from Metro Cebu local government units are fully vaccinated, 28.52% in Cebu City, 40.43% in Mandaue City, 26.65% in Lapu-Lapu City, 22.03% in Talisay City, 28.91% in Naga City, 23.94% in Consolacion, and 29.50% in Minglanilla.

Meanwhile, Bohol has administered some 138,175 for the first dose, and 141,849 for the second dose, while Negros Oriental has administered 114,442 for the first shot, and 101,650 for the second shot.

The province of Siquijor logged the lowest turnout of vaccine administered with 21,421 first dose recipients and 36,281 for the second dose.

As of Aug. 31, the Central Visayas has received a total of 2,961,800 doses of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sputnik V, Janssen, Moderna, and Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines. –rir
