OHCC: Alert Level System has helped in the lowering of COVID-19 cases

By Pearl Gumapos

The One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) on Friday (Oct. 15) said the pilot implementation of the Alert Level System has helped in the lowering of cases in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“Compared to our surge last August and September, talagang bumaba ang number ng kaso. Nakatulong po [ang Alert Level System] dahil na-control iyong mga cases natin. Nakita naman natin na bumababa iyong daily cases natin so mas kumaunti iyong nagre-require ng isolation facilities or ng hospitalization,” OHCC medical officer Dr. Marylaine Padlan said during a Laging Handa public briefing.

However, she said it is difficult to be complacent and that the public must remain careful.

“In our perspective, mahirap maging kampante. We still need to be careful because iyong pag-change ng Alert Level System means more people will become more mobile so kailangan natin panatilihin pa rin iyong ating mga health protocols,” she said.

Padlan said one of the challenges of this pandemic is the lack of supplies, especially oxygen, and that the Department of Health is doing its best to respond to the demands of hospitals.

Meanwhile, Padlan added that following the onslaught of Typhoon Maring, hospitals in Northern Luzon continue to admit patients.

“Nagkakaroon lang ng kahirapan as communication was affected and iyong pag-transfer ng ating patients affected din po,” she said. – bny
