Marawi rehabilitation projects slowly coming together – BARMM parliament member

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) member of parliament Zia Alonto Adiong on Monday (Oct. 18) shared that rehabilitation projects such as buildings, roads, and a mosque are slowly coming together.

Adiong said the Marawi rehabilitation project brings new hope to residents severely affected by the war between the military and Maute groups in 2017.

“Nakita po natin na paunti-unting bumabalik ang sigla ng mga tao dito sa Marawi lalong-lalo na po ‘yung ating mga na-displace na residente diyan sa most affected area,” Adiong said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Yesterday, we were assured by [DHSUD] Sec. Del Rosario na before the end of the President’s term, they will be able to fully repair or rehabilitate the damages,” he added.

Last month, Task Force Bangon Marawi chairperson Eduardo del Rosario shared in the Senate that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, they have finished 80% of the Marawi rehabilitation project. -Report from Sweeden Velado-Ramirez/PG-rir
