AFP: No presence of Chinese vessels in WPS since last week

The Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Command (AFP-Wescom) on Sunday (Oct. 24) confirmed that no Chinese vessels have been spotted in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) since last week.

AFP-Wescom Chief Vice Adm. Ramil Enriquez in an interview said that the AFP sent three air vehicles to the WSP last week and saw no Chinese vessels conducting illegal activities.

On Oct. 20, the Department of Foreign Affairs protested over 200 radio challenges, siren ringing, and blowing of horns of Chinese government vessels while Philippine representatives patrolled the territory of the Philippines.

According to Enriquez, despite the silence of Chinese vessels, the country will continue to protest against illegal reclamation activities and the destruction of the country’s marine resources. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio/PG – bny
