Palace assures government is performing obligation to protect right to life

By Pearl Gumapos

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday (Oct. 25) said that while no government program is perfect, the public may be assured that the government is fulfilling its obligation to protect the people’s right to life.

This follows the DOJ matrix on the government’s campaign against illegal drugs which contained 52 cases showing those who violated protocols and processes in the enforcement of the campaign.

“Like any other government program, we cannot claim to be perfect. Pero ang sinasabi natin, huwag naman iyong gawain ng mga ilang bugok ay maapektuhan iyong buong programa,” Roque said during the Malacañang public briefing.

Roque said the decision of the DOJ shows that the State is doing all it can to provide justice.

“Itong desisyon ng ating DOJ, nagpapatunay na ginagampanan natin iyong ating obligasyon bilang estado na kapag mayroon pong napatay, ay iimbestigahan, lilitisin, at paparusahan ang mga pumapatay.”

“Nothing is perfect and itong findings ng DOJ prove that the Philippines nga po is undertaking and performing its obligation insofar as the right to life is concerned,” he added. -rir
