Fully vaccinated local tourists from nearby provinces can travel to Boracay soon

The Aklan Provincial Health Office clarified that only local tourists from nearby provinces are covered by the new policy on eliminating the requirement of a negative RT-PCR result for fully vaccinated tourists in Boracay.

In today’s (Oct. 26) Laging Handa public briefing, Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the Aklan Provincial Health Office said fully vaccinated local tourists from Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras are allowed to enter Boracay, provided that they have a certification from VaxCertPH, as well as an online health declaration and proof of hotel accommodation.

He said that if the certification is not available, a negative RT-PCR test result is required. However, for tourists from the National Capital Region (NCR), a negative RT-PCR test result must be presented.

Kung wala po silang certification coming from the VaxCertPH, so kailangan po nilang may negative RT-PCR.”

“Sa ngayon po iyong mga tourists coming from NCR or Metro Manila ay ganoon pa rin po ‘yung requirement, ‘yung negative RT-PCR,” he said.

In relation to the implementation of the said policy, Cuachon said easing of travel restrictions might be imposed once the location achieves 70% fully vaccinated community.

Report from Allan Francisco/NGS-rir
