Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte withdraws COC for mayor

Sara Duterte-Carpio on Tuesday (Nov. 9) announced her decision to withdraw her certification for candidacy for the position of Davao City mayor.

She also added that incumbent Davao City vice mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte would be taking her place while Atty. Melchor Quitain has been nominated to run for vice mayor.

“Ngayong hapon wini-withdraw ko ang aking kandidatura sa pagka-Mayor ng Davao City,” Duterte said in a Facebook post.

“Si VM Baste ang papalit sa akin. Ito lamang po muna. Maraming salamat po,” she added.

The Mayor filed her candidacy seeking her third and last consecutive term as Davao mayor last Oct. 2.

According to a September Pulse Asia survey, Duterte was the top choice for president for the upcoming 2022 elections. – PTV News/PG – bny
