More tourists eyed in Baguio next month

The local government of Baguio City is expecting an increase of tourist arrivals in the summer capital until December amid the gradual easing of travel restrictions.

The city’s tourism office estimates thousands of individuals visited Baguio since the opening of leisure travel in the last week of October.

“I think that’s a comfortable crowd, comfortable size. Hindi siya kagaya ng overcrowding we were experiencing before. It’s a comfortable number,” City Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Alec Mapalo said.

“For now, we are looking at how to maintain that, even as we approach December,” he added.

Interested tourists have been reminded that only those with proof of full vaccination are allowed to enter the city. They are also required to register at https://visita.baguio.gov.ph/.

Around 2,000 tourists are permitted to enter Baguio per day, in line with other measures on the observance of minimum public health standards. – Report from Debbie Gasingan (PTV Cordillera)/AG-rir
