The Department of Health (DOH) reminded local government units (LGUs) to establish separate lanes for each dose and vaccination type after an individual reportedly received two different COVID-19 doses in a single day.
In the Dec. 4 Laging Handa briefing, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the incident involving a Zamboanga resident already reached their department.
“Sana magkaroon tayo ng specific lanes for each type of vaccination na gagawin natin para hindi tayo nagkakaroon ng errors, at hindi rin nagkakaroon ng pag-aagam-agam ang ating mga kababayan,” she said.
The DOH said the vaccinee is being monitored and no untoward effect has been reported yet.
Vergeire also advised LGUs and vaccination sites to allow walk-in vaccine recipients to get their COVID-19 shot as the country further ramps up its vaccination rollout.
“Kung saka-sakali pong pupunta na ang ating mga kababayan sa vaccination site, sana payagan na natin silang mabakunahan kahit hindi sila nakapag-register, because we lose opportunity if we send them home,” she said.
She also reminded vaccination sites to observe and maintain health and safety protocols by avoiding mass gatherings and crowding “prevent infections” in the vaccination sites.
The government has started with the first round of national vaccination days subbed as “Bayanihan Bakunahan” on Nov. 29. The three-day campaign was extended until Dec. 3 upon the request of LGUs.
Vergeire said 9,937, 827 doses have been administered since it started, including the 1.9 million doses on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3.
A total of 39,161 booster or additional doses were also given to the rest of the population after the government approved its administration on the rest of the general population. –bny
